This film added another layer to my america picture. I have seen many of the peace movement traditions living on in other countries and I think this is a good example of how America influenced the world. On the other hand today war in Irak and Afganistan is going on, but ma** protests have vanished. It seems like today we are to satisfied or to busy to see, that history is repeating. Thank you to the filmmakers, you made me aware but didn\\\\\ \\\\\\\ \\\\\\\ \\\\\\\ \\\'t scare and probably the animation part very much contributed to that.
This is easily one of the best films I've seen this year. It uses the animation only in the courtroom scenes which matches the surreal spectacle of that drama. Much of it is comprised of incredible found footage of the subjects themselves, and of archive material of the Chicago Convention of 1968. For those too young to know the impact of that event (what are the schools teaching if not contemporary history?), it is made perfectly clear. But neither the trial of the !0, nor the bloodying of the protesters is the main purpose of this film. It serves instead to capture the life spirit of the historical moment (or the elan vital as Abbie Hoffman says referring to Henri Bergson's idea). It is a CALL TO ARMS in the spirit of social protest and artistic intervention. It catches the pa**ion, the wit, the commitment, and the urgency of these young activists. The final words of the film from the lips of black activist Bobby Seale are "power to the people". Have we forgotten that is not just protest - that is what Democracy looks like. See this film!!!!
